Club Night:

Our club nights are normally held on the last Friday of each month (except December, date to be advised). Each night features  the monthly turning competition along with a guest speaker, or a demonstrator either from within the club, or a visiting guest.  These prove to be extremely popular with members and guests alike.

Visits to the Club by Professional Demonstrators

Several times a year we are lucky enough to host demonstrations by Professional Turners.  These all-day events are enormously popular, and are often held on Saturdays.

Friday 29th July 2016

The delightful Jenny Starbuck captivated us with her own unique style of delicate turning, and varied methods of decoration.  She was ably assisted by her husband Chris, who operated the video camera.  We will be seeing Jenny and Chris again in 2017.

Saturday 12 November 2016

Les Thorne returned once again after a 5 year absence to give us a day to remember, full of humorous anecdotes, which also covered the turning and decorating of several items.  A great day with lots of laughs and really useful tips, plus solid instruction on technique.

Saturday 11th February 2017

Alan Thomas, a well respected local demonstrator returned to visit us once more.  Alan teaches woodturning, and loves to pass on his skills and knowledge, which he did very well throughout his excellent demonstration.  Three projects completed - an offset goblet, followed by a textured bowl, and an oriental style square box.  A very enjoyable day for all!

Saturday 29th April 2017

John Boyne-Aitken - also known as the Bowler Hatted Turner - has worked with wood most of his life doing carpentry and joinery, making bespoke furniture and of course woodturning.   John provided us with a very enjoyable day, with lots of good tips, and demonstrated how to make several fascinating projects, including the turning and casting of a pewter rimmed bowl.

 Friday 28th July 2017

Jenny Starbuck returned once again to the club with husband Chris and delivered another professional and interesting presentation, showcasing the techniques involved in turning thin-walled items.  Much enjoyed!

Saturday 18th November 2017 - ONE FOR THE DIARY

Sandra Adams - she has been turning and using wood since 1998.  Sandra's aim is to keep all materials used as natural as possible. All of the wood she uses is sourced locally to her workshop, in and around Exmoor.

Saturday 14th July 2018 - ONE FOR THE DIARY

Colwin Way is coming to the club!  Block the day out in your diary, he's sure to pull in the crowds!

Club Open Day

The club holds an open day at the workshop on a bi-annual basis.  The July 2016 event was very well attended by club members, their friends and members of the public.  See the photos of the day below.

We're already starting to think about the next Open Day in 2018, so watch this space!
